- 1Turn off the stopcock
Usually under the kitchen sink. Turn it clockwise until it stops.
- 2Keep water away from electrics
If water is near sockets or lights, switch off at the fuse box, but only if it’s dry and safe to reach.
- 3Drain the system
Switch off the boiler, then open the cold taps to empty the pipes faster.
